With spring just two days away, blowing and at times blinding snow struck North Platte Tuesday. Up to 4 inches could accumlate, the weather service said.

There is a 30 percent chance that snow will continue through the night, according to the National Weather Service in North Platte. Winds will gust to around 30 miles an hour. Roads could become icy as the temperature falls to around 25 degrees.

The temperature will climb Wednesday to around 50 degrees, but northwest winds will continue at 8-16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph, the forecast says.

AccuWeather.com forecasts milder weather Thursday, on the first day of spring. Spring officially arrives at 11:57 p.m. The afternoon temperature will climb into the mid-60s.

With the exception of the northern states, the Great Lakes and the interior Northeast, temperatures across the country on Thursday will reach or exceed seasonable levels for March 20, accuweather says.
